Opening Night Party

The Challenge:

A party to celebrate the opening night of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City. The event was held in an upscale hotel's restaurant and featured a live performance by The Virgins.

How Reid Sound made the room come alive:

New York Fashion Week is a high energy environment, and any event produced during it has to live up to high standards. Reid Sound was tasked with providing a sound system, lighting and staging.

A live sound reinforcement system was needed that would be loud enough to project the energy of a band like The Virgins, but small enough to fit inside of the limited space available in the restaurant. Powered loudspeakers were placed on top of small subwoofers, providing a high-impact sound system with a very small footprint. Similar powered loudspeakers were used for stage monitors for the band. Reid Sound also provided instruments (backline) for the band in accordance with their technical requirements. A digital mixing console was used which allowed a multitude of processing, including reverb, delay, and dynamics processing to be provided in a very small space.

In addition to the sound system, Reid Sound also provided a removable stage for the event. Stage lighting was provided to highlight the band. In addition, lighting was required for a Mercedes-Benz AMG 65 Black Series which was parked in front of the building. This request was brought to Reid Sound only one day before the event, however it was not a problem to meet the client's needs.

Shortly before the start of the event, the NYPD informed the client that a press greeting tent that had been placed in front of the building needed to be moved due to permitting issues. Despite not having any audio-visual elements inside of this tent, Reid Sound technicians jumped right in to help move the structure, as well as the flooring and temporary heating system that had been placed inside of it. The process was completed quickly and the event was able to continue without any problems.

• LCD screens for digital signage. These can be used to display company logos, thank you's to sponsors, or any other information you want displayed.
• Building accent lighting. Uplighting can be used to highlight various areas or to wash the outside of the building in color and logos can be projected on sidewalks in front of the building.
• Commercial two-way radios with headsets for communications amongst production crew, PR crew, security staff, etc.
